GÉNESIS, EVOLUCIÓN Y DEBATE SOBRE EL MULTICULTURALISMO E INTERCULTURALISMO

Resumen

Las sociedades modernas se caracterizan por albergar en su seno grupos culturalmente distintos. Estos fenómenos incrementados por procesos migratorios a escala global, plantean desde el siglo pasado desafíos, problemáticas, debates y posibles soluciones encaminadas a integrar y reconocer culturas, minorías, etnias, pueblos indígenas, pueblos originarios y autóctonos, según sean defiidos en cada país. En este sentido, el artículo examina las acepciones multiculturalismo e interculturalismo, considerando el espacio geográfio desde donde fueron construidos, el momento y el contexto histórico. Los temas se analizan a la luz de la asunción de la democracia liberal en naciones occidentales y la propuesta intercultural desde los pueblos indígenas latinoamericanos.

Abstract
Modern societies are characterized by harboring culturally different groups within them. These phenomena, increased by migratory processes on a global scale, have posed since the last century challenges, problems, debates and possible solutions aimed at integrating and recognizing cultures, minorities, ethnic groups, indigenous peoples, original and autochthonous peoples, as defied in each country. In this sense, the article examines the meanings of multiculturalism and interculturalism, considering the geographical space from which they were built, the moment and the historical context. The themes are analyzed in light of the assumption of liberal democracy in Western nations and the intercultural proposal from the Latin American indigenous peoples.
