UNA MIRADA A LA MERCANTILIZACIÓN DE LA AYAHUASCA EN IQUITOS, PERÚ, DESDE LA ECOLOGÍA POLÍTICA LATINOAMERICANA

Resumen

Este ensayo toma algunos elementos de la ecología política latinoamericana para analizar el fenómeno de la mercantilización de la Ayahuasca, en el caso específio de Iquitos, Perú. Para tal efecto, se recurre a distintas fuentes documentales y etnográfias, principalmente, investigaciones académicas que se han ocupado del fenómeno, sobre todo desde la perspectiva del turismo y la globalización, entre otras. El aporte de este artículo al análisis de la mercantilización de la Ayahuasca, reside por consiguiente, en la mirada desde la ecología política latinoamericana que permite observar los actores en juego, los conflctos y las relaciones asimétricas de poder que participan en la mercantilización, para fialmente, proponer la importancia de incluir un actor que se acostumbra pasar por alto: la planta de Ayahuasca.

Abstract
Ths essay takes some elements of Latin American political ecology to analyze the phenomenon of Ayahuasca’s commercialization, in the specifi case of Iquitos, Peru. For this purpose we look at diffrent documentary and ethnographic sources, mainly academic researches that have dealt with the phenomenon, especially from the perspective of tourism and the globalization, among others. Th contribution of this article to the analysis of the commercialization of Ayahuasca, resides therefore in the point of view that Latin American political ecology allows, for instance to observe the actors at stake, the conflcts and the asymmetric relationships of power that come into play in the commodifiation. Finally, we propose the importance of including an actor that is usually overlooked: the Ayahuasca plant.
